We must always hear the term steroids or roids in the gym or any fitness club. Some might speak about it privately or hesitate to interact about it. We must have heard or said,this person is on steroids!  Today we will cover significant points about steroids which every fitness freak and people following wellness schedules must know. We will not go deep in science but basic overview and side effects which can occur should be always in our mind.

 Steroid are naturally occurring compounds including sterols, bile acids, adrenal & sex hormones and certain vitamins. The types of steroids are generally anabolic, corticosteroids, sex hormones, prohormones. We will discuss anabolic steroids which most people consume for drastic betterment.

Anabolic steroids are a class of natural and synthetic steroid hormones that promote cell growth  and division, resulting in growth of muscle tissue and sometimes bone size and strength, All anabolic steroids are chemical derivatives of the male sex hormone, Testosterone. The main function of steroid is anabolic and androgenic effect. Hence, they are also called as Androgenic anabolic steroids. The anabolic effect is responsible for the growth, muscular development of adult male.

Steroids are legally available only with medical prescription. Athletes and bodybuilders and many youngsters often illegally use this drug in order to enhance muscle mass, performance and to boost aesthetic look. There are numerous negative consequences and long term effects with intake of steroids.

The side effects in man can include sudden weight gain, cysts, tumors in kidney, heart complications, jaundice, bloating, stretch marks,  balding, libido, trembling, painful urination and cancer too.

In women it can lead to reduced breast size, facial hair, menstrual dysfunction, change in voice.

It also has psychological and derma effects which inculcates roid rage, mood swings, paranoia, anxiety, hallucinations. I have covered some of the major & minor side effects which can take place in our body. The complications and hurdles cover the entire body.

Nobody is impeccable. In short, life is more precious than building a body for show off with shortcuts and drugs. You can make an aesthetic body with a good diet, exercise and sleep.The long cut is time consuming but  comes with the cost dedication, persistence and commitment.

It is our moral duty to educate youngsters and youths about the dark side of steroids.
