Health Benefits of Soy

Soybeans contain antioxidants and phytonutrients that are linked to various health benefits. However, concerns have been raised about potential adverse effects. Soymilk, chunks, biscuits, juice, and other soy products and preparations are a storehouse of umpteen health benefits. Soybeans or soya beans (Glycine max) are a type of legume native to eastern Asia. They are an important component of Asian diets and have been consumed for thousands of years. Today, they are mainly grown in Asia and South and North America. In Asia, soybeans are often eaten whole, but heavily processed soy products are much more common in Western countries.

Great Source of Protein

Soybeans are mainly composed of protein but also contain good amounts of carbs and fat, Soybeans are considered to be the richest source of protein for your body. It is considered to be an exceptional way to feed yourself with good quality and full protein. The protein content in soybeans is 36-56 percent of the dry weight. Glycinin and conglycinin, which make up about 80 percent of the overall protein content, are the key protein groups in soybeans. In some people, these proteins can cause allergic reactions. Around 29 grams of protein is required for one cup (172 grams) of boiled soybeans. Although the consistency is not quite as high as animal protein, the nutritional value of soy protein is strong. 

May reduce cancer risk

One of the main causes of death in western culture is cancer. Consuming soy products is associated with elevated breast tissue in women, raising the risk of breast cancer hypothetically. 

In soy products, there are a variety of compounds present that help prevents cancer, in particular breast cancer. Soy is known to be high in phytoestrogen, which slows down testosterone production, and the chance of prostate cancer may also be lowered by this decreased level.
